For the record, when I tell stories on here about my fucked-up youth, I am in no way encouraging or glorifying that behavior. Drugs & alcohol (which I mostly used to deal with C-PTSD) really messed up my life for a long time. I’m grateful to be sober & know how tenuous sobriety really is.

Everyone thinks that their number from 1-10 on the attractiveness scale is set, but it's 100% dependant on where you live! I was a solid 7 or 8 in NYC, a 2 in Cleveland, Ohio, and maybe a 6 or 7 in Philly. Your level of attractiveness is sadly based on how attractive your dating pool finds you!

This is such a weird thing to post? Every job in academia asks for your transcripts. Jobs outside academia often have to see a certain level of education on your resume if you have more than a page's worth of experience. Most residencies, grants & fellowships require a degree.

I am barely surviving in a financial sense. If I ever got injured, I'd be homeless. The only thing keeping me afloat is that I haven't become ill or hurt myself. I can only hope I stay healthy until I die, because I can never stop working. This is just reality for most people in the US.
