You may have seen that the Treasury is considering a pay-per-mile charge for #EV drivers, to be introduced in 2028. As the association representing EV drivers, we wrote an open letter to the Chancellor urging her to consider the impact on driver costs, choice and sentiment.

🚗⚡October stats show that #EVs remain the clear growth story as their market share reached 26% of all new cars sold - the highest so far this year.

⚡ Our latest survey report shows that while most #EV drivers love their cars, those without driveways are being left behind. Nearly 9 in 10 drivers with driveways say their EV is much cheaper to run than petrol or diesel, but only half of drivers without driveways agree.

⚡ The Government plans to make home charging easier and cheaper, mandating #EV chargepoints in covered car parks and consulting on removing planning permission for cross-pavement gullies. This could mean charging from just 2p per mile and saving up to £250 in fees.

⚡ Accessible charging for all drivers must be a priority. Millions of disabled drivers risk being locked out of the #EV transition because public chargers are still not accessible, and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Lord Borwick are calling for change.

Government pledges to act on the #EV ‘charging divide’ ⚡ After a successful campaign led by Baroness Pidgeon, supported by EVA England and its partners, the Government committed yesterday to new action to support drivers without private driveways.
