Main Street building demo underway
Over a year after the property was condemned and ordered vacated by the city, demolition of the dilapidated storefront building at 801-809 Main St. began this week. Crews were working Tuesday to demolish the building, which previously contained the BibânâTucker laundromat and two other businesses. Bricks from the property will be salvaged and recycled, according to Jake Fowler of Fowler Services, Inc.

Laid-off workers suing restaurant chain
Two former employees of the Guzman y Gomez restaurant company have filed what they hope will become a class action lawsuit on behalf of all the workers let go when the company closed it nine USA restaurants with, according to the suit, no official notice. All of those restaurants are in the Chicago area and one is in Evanston.

Tapestry Station sells for $38M
After going up for sale last July, the 120-unit Tapestry Station apartment building on Main Street in the 4th Ward sold last week to TLC Management for a reported $38 million. The sale was part of an exchange after TLC Management purchased an Uptown apartment building this March for $39 million, turning around and parlaying that into the purchase of Tapestry Station in Evanston, according to The Real Deal.
