WEAPONS was awesome and also, the man sitting next to us became enraged by someone down front using their phone and exclaimed, "FUCKIN IPAD!" What an icon.

. I was expecting a haunted house, but what I got instead was an introspective and moving hauntology. A beautiful book.

âWe wanted to rid ourselves of the fashions of historiography,â Burns summarized at one event, âand make a film that simply shows what happened.â Thatâs not how history works though. Youâre making an argument about what happened & what mattered even if you donât realize youâre doing it. đïž

I enjoyed Until Dawn, but it was definitely made for people who are very familiar with missing a quick time event and getting embarrassingly mauled by a wendigo in the game.

Just got out of Nosferatu and oh my god, what an amazing analysis of premodern v. modern. This is something horror regularly provides us in imagery and metaphor, but to see Robert Eggers explain history to us directly through the dialogue of horror is wonderful.

I finally watched The Substance. A couple thoughts: A hilarious satire of the unattainable and ephemeral standards of beauty imposed on women. Such standards exist within the larger framework of female sexual monstrosity, which the film does not shy away from.

Trying to crank out a historiographical paper about how French scientists across disciplines helped create a culture obsessed with decay at the fin-de-siecle, but like right now, on Thanksgiving. Typing so fast, so turked up.
