It takes so much practice to be a human. Years and years of clumsy practice. I’m convinced one of the most important things a parent can do is to provide loving space for children to practice their humanity. Otherwise, they practice when they are grown and ‘free’ and the stakes are so very high.

I spent the evening at a direct action village meeting at a local bookstore/bakery. It was amazing - 20+ folks showed up with their gifts and skills and offerings. I was honored to be there as an herbalist 🖤🌱

I’m thinking about how my children trust me because I laugh with them every single day. I don’t lie to them or disrespect them. I speak love over them. We talk about everything they need to. We ask questions together. They know I’ll hold the line but not to their hurt. We can be this for others.

Mothering at the end of the world. My parenting perspective has changed so drastically. I don’t tell my boys they can work hard and get what they want. I say, “everyone does what they can so that everyone has what they need.” Over and over again. It starts here.
