Over $11 million in Neighborhood Assistance Program awards were recently awarded to organizations in Allegheny County, including over $1 million to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to support their efforts to ensure that every family has access to fresh, nutritious food.

This week I introduced legislation to strengthen workers compensation law to ensure that PA workers are fairly and adequately protected. If you’re hurt on the job, especially if your injury is permanent, you should be able to provide for your family and receive fair compensation for your injury.

My team joined the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in Clairton at their monthly food distribution yesterday. Helping our neighbors find resources is a key part of our constituent services, so please call us if you need assistance.

Everyone deserves to be safe in their community, and I will always fight to support law enforcement and efforts to keep our communities safe. The new state budget includes $61 million for grants to reduce violent crime and gun violence. I'm thrilled to support this investment in public safety.

Yesterday, my staff at Plum Borough Community Library joined 4th graders from O’Block Elementary as they showcased their own stories inspired by “The World According to Humphrey.” Shout out to the library staff and teachers who arranged the event and helped students celebrate their projects.

My team was at Citizen's House Co. #1 of Glassport yesterday with Mission: Agape and @repinglis.com to help with a free food distribution event. Another distribution in Glassport is scheduled for December 1st. Follow our pages to stay up to date on future events!

We need more quality, well-trained teachers in Pennsylvania. That's why we fought for $30 million for the PA Student Teacher Support program, a $10 million increase. These stipends go directly to pay student teachers, who otherwise go unpaid during their mandatory work experience.

I am opposed to the rate increase proposed by Pennsylvania American Water as higher monthly bills would place additional strain on families already grappling with rising costs. As someone subject to the proposed increase, I will be contacting the PUC and urge you to do the same.

Wherever you are in the 45th District, my goal is to offer help in a location convenient to you. In addition to my district offices in Monroeville and McKeesport, we are available at satellite locations across the region to help with an array of state issues.

All our children and teachers deserve to feel safe and cared for in our schools. That's why I was so proud to support $100 million for safety and mental health supports for our schools as a part of this year's state budget.

I had a great time visiting Brave Bean Coffee Company in Pitcairn. Each cup of coffee gives back by supporting veterans through programs like Buy a Coffee for a Veteran, donations to Wounded Warrior Project, and the installation of Hometown Hero Banners honoring local service members in Pitcairn.

The new state budget includes $193 million for the new Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit--money that will go directly back into the pockets of families trying to make ends meet.

My office is partnering with the VFW and American Legion Department of Pennsylvania to provide military veterans the opportunity to meet with a representative and discuss veterans assistance opportunities.

I'm proud that this year's new state budget allocates over $20 million in additional funding and savings for local school districts ensuring that our children have the resources they need to succeed and local property taxes don't have to increase.

Over the past three years, I've stood on the picket line with striking @pghguild.com @cwaunion.bsky.social workers from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Today a judge ruled in those workers' favor saying that their fundamental rights to collectively bargain were violated by the PG's publishers.
