IT’S JAN. 2!!! One of my favorite days. The holidays are over. Back to predictable hours, fewer crowds everywhere, less emails asking me to donate money before the end of the year. Once again we have won the battle with Christmas and can return to our real lives for a few peaceful months.

Holy Guacamole! What a gorgeous bird!

We went out of town for about 10 days and came back to 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) of water in our rain gauge. We usually get about 16 inches total for the year, mostly between October and April, with half of that in January and February. This brings our total for this rainy season to over 12 inches!
