apropos of nothing, it has been 16 actual years since I played The Strange and Somewhat Sinister Tale of the House at Desert Bridge, and I still think of its melancholy mood and naivist crayon illustrations all the time so maybe what game dev needs isn't slop-iteration maybe it needs more crayons

I would like to sign PT's petition, and add that for a list intended to be about *modern* games, it sure does have a bunch of remakes of very old games on it. Dragon Quest III came out 37 years ago. It might have gotten shinier pixels, but it is still older than the fall of the Berlin Wall.

finished the LibriVox audiobook of The Woman in White yesterday, and I kind of loved it. It's got its problems for a modern reader, obviously - nothing written in 1860 is going to be free of issues - but it's got a great style, and feels surprisingly fresh considering its age.
