First time seeing a Werner Herzog film in IMAX 3D! (I did see an American Cinematheque screening of this in 3D a few years ago with a Q&A with Herzog).

My second Q&A screening of the day was the Academy Museum’s screening of MICKEY 17, followed by a Q&A with writer-director Bong Joon Ho and producer Dooho Choi. The Q&A opened with a sobering observation about just how dystopian the film is compared to the real world.

Saw the delightful film THE CHRISTOPHERS for a second time today, this time with a Q&A with director Steven Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon (MEN IN BLACK, creator of BILL & TED), moderated by Tim Grierson.

My second Q&A screening of the day was the Japanese horror video game adaptation EXIT 8 at the AMC Century City, which was followed by a Q&A with director Genki Kawamura, moderated by film critic Carlos Aguilar.

At the Egyptian Theatre for an American Cinematheque screening of Robert Altman’s THE LONG GOODBYE, followed by a Q&A with star Elliott Gould, as part of the annual Noir City film noir festival.

The best part of returning home from a vacation is seeing Patches’ reaction when we pick her up from dog boarding.

Checking out the springtime display at the Conservatory at the Bellagio. Tomorrow, the city of Las Vegas is having a parade for Bruno Mars and renaming a street after him, so there was a flower artwork honoring him at the Conservatory.

We just arrived in Las Vegas, but this morning Patches was panicking and trying to keep us from leaving.

This afternoon’s American Cinematheque screening at the Aero Theatre was the world premiere of the beautiful 4K restoration of the stunning, long unavailable 1969 Frank Perry film LAST SUMMER, followed by a Q&A with stars Barbara Hershey and Bruce Davison, moderated by Larry Karaszewski.

About to spend 7 hours at the Aero Theatre for an American Cinematheque double-feature of THE GODFATHER and THE GODFATHER PART II in 35mm as part of their continuing series in tribute to Robert Duvall. I’ve never seen Part II in a theater!

At the Egyptian Theatre for an American Cinematheque screening of NETWORK in 35mm as part of their Robert Duvall tribute series.

Some limited edition mini-LEGO sets that I’ve built recently: an homage to Jane Austen, THE SIMPSONS living room, and a Ferris wheel with fireworks. I also assembled a non-LEGO object: this 160-piece puzzle vase.

Patches was not enjoying the 94-degree heat on her afternoon walk and was seeking out shade wherever she could.

Patches is intrigued by my latest LEGO build, Morticia’s Cottage from the Netflix series WEDNESDAY (which I still haven’t watched). This 1,000-piece set was a birthday gift from my brother Stephen last year.

Lately, Patches has gotten stubborn on our walks, sometimes stopping in the middle of the sidewalk and refusing to move. This time I just dropped her leash and walked away down the block. She was not amused.

Tonight’s American Cinematheque screening at the Aero Theatre was an Ultra Panavision 70mm print of SINNERS, followed by a Q&A with the great, first-time Oscar nominee Delroy Lindo, moderated by Katey Rich. Ultra Panavision 70 has an aspect ratio of 2.76:1, and they were selling hats!

For the second night in a row, I went to the AMC Century City to see Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC (Elvis Presley in Concert) in IMAX. Tonight, though, director Baz Luhrmann was there for a Q&A.

Just saw the trippiest double feature. These are both in theaters right now and if can see ‘em back-to-back DO IT.
