It's all action in the back garden as the starlings mob the new seed and the wood pigeon waits for the messy rabble to drop him his snacks. The sparrows flit in and out of the hedges so fast they cannot get shouted at, or caught on camera.

Goblinkid home from first solo excursion, perfectly fine and safe and with no idea we were worried or nervous. As it should be.

As a parent, I am so mystified by when we decide to let our kids start going places unaccompanied. We have to give them freedom. The risks they may encounter are terrifying. They have to learn, so do we. The process of letting go is dreadful.

There is a headstone in the graveyard for a man who died aged 75. And his wife who died 20 years later, but re-married. It has been updated to include her second husband who died 5 years after she did, and the three are buried all together. I cannot help but love that.
