I like to think that I've seen just about everything John M Burns had published so it's always a delight when someone surprises me with something I haven't seen. From Smash issue 150 cover date 14/12/68. Thanks to Robert Moubert.

Joel Meadows pocketed $22,500 from a Kickstarter campaign, claiming it was a self-payment for his "legitimate campaign work." The creator of the book, George Pratt, ended up with nothing. If you think that kind of behaviour should be rewarded, well... Joel's got another one on the boil right now.

Comics scholar John Lent has sadly passed away. I last communicated with him just a month ago when I finally purchased a subscription to IJOCA. When I traveled to ICAF in 2016 to accept the award named after him he unfortunately couldn't make it to the conference, so I never got to meet him,

In the dark days of COVID, when Comic Studies Society was cancelled, John Lent reached out to the presenters to offer a space to publish - I had my Gail Simone Twitter article published there, and appreciated the faint ray of hope in that dire moment. He did what he could when we needed it most. RIP

I doubt there are many following me that buy CGC books, but if somebody is thinking about it, DON'T. I've had friends buy blue label books, crack them open and find the book is incomplete with missing pages. CGC then tells them because the book was cracked out of their slab, the warranty is voided.

My take: Kirby fully deserves a street named after him ALONE. Given his achievements in every area of comics making – writing, drawing, concept invention, etc. - he does not need to be associated with any employers and partners, especially those who treated him unfairly.

The number is even higher: 390,625 copies published annually, according to this GCD scan. But out of these, 187,512 on average were not sold.

Alan Moore Interview: Magical Consciousness, Disowned Works, and the Long London Quintet
Moore explains why nostalgia is literally an illness and how authoritarianism has always weaponised it Transmission 337: Interview with Alan Moore Featured image: Mitch Jenkins It is often said that it is necessary to leave past creations behind to truly grow, and few artists embody this philosophy more radically than Alan Moore. While the mainstream world remains fixated on the seismic impact of his superheroes stories, the "Magus of Northampton" has long since moved on. Today, Moore views those seminal works as relics of a past era, artifacts from a superhero genre he has decisively outgrown.
