Life in the year 2079 according to The 10th Victim (1965), which I finally got round to watching last night. Silly but stylish fun, like very low-grade Fellini, especially with Marcello Mastroianni (with blond hair!) being named "Marcello". One of the "jokes" is that the Pope is an American.

While Jim Aparo (1932-2005) is chiefly remembered as a DC Comics mainstay, I hold the minority opinion that his earlier work at Charlton was superior, less formulaic. Because of his reliability and popularity, DC squeezed him hard. Check out this touching SF tale from 1968! š¤šš

On H.P. Lovecraft's birthday, here's one of his few observations about comics: "We question, however, the place of popular cartoons in serious papers; the 'funny picture' habit is essentially a plebeian one, and alien to journalism of the highest grade." -United Amateur 16, No. 8 (May 1917)

Good list, and I enjoyed seeing MS. TREE by Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty here. Besides the actual comics content, it was Collins's writing in the letter columns/backmatter that led me to an interest in crime writers such as Thompson, Goodis, Himes, etc. as well as film noir in general.
