the primary reason rightwingers will never control culture is because everything they do is hinged upon it being a reaction to the broader culture. the TPUSA half time event would not exist without it being a representation of their grievences

One thing I learned about Stalingrad from this book is how much OKW lied to Paulus et al about relief. He was told explicitly that Hoth still held a bridgehead over the Mishkova *3 weeks* after he’d been ordered to abandon it.

Just about done with my most recent WW2 audiobook (William Craig’s Enemy At The Gates). Seeking recs for my next one! Most interested in the Eastern Front, Nazi Germany, the USSR etc, and especially military and political history!

The M3 Lee tank gets absolutely no love or attention, you never see it in movies even though we fielded thousands of them, and I’m convinced it’s because they look so ridiculous, directors and producers think modern audiences wouldn’t believe it.

This Administration and its supporters truly don’t understand how badly they’ve polarized people against them. There are hundreds of thousands of consistent Republican or Trump voters who really don’t like feds murdering protestors.

The GOP has offered nothing this century except for catastrophic wars. No healthcare plan; no re-industrialization. Now they're losing their only issue, immigration, as people see the violence and havoc that comes with mass deportations.

Of all the books I’ve read since my WW2 phase started, this has been the hardest. It’s the first one that’s really just a mix of personal stories, and each one is beyond belief. The things your average German soldier was capable of, particularly in Ukraine, defy explanation.

Scott, if you have such an issue with human trafficking and whatnot, do you have any regrets about going on Richard Hanania's podcast? After all, he says Epstein was a great guy.

Folks look at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Saturday. Again, every time someone says "Trump can't do that" the only serious response is "Yes, he can, until Congress removes him"

These were both dictionary-definition acts of physical courage. But libs are supposed to be wimps. So the desire is to backfill some reason why Pretti acted stupidly or Omar (who has dealt with threats for years) couldn't really be physically courageous.

Noticing thread in two RW reactions to MN events: the killing of Pretti, and Omar not flinching when she was sprayed by a crazy person. On Pretti, lotsa "well it wouldn't have happened to me bc I stay inside and obey law enforcement." On Omar, theorizing (inc by Trump) that she staged it.(1/2)

Not shown on video, but Latrisha Vetaw told Rep. Omar to leave and physically blocked her from returning to the podium. Rep. Omar then yelled "I'm not letting these fucking assholes stop us" and continued the town hall, seemingly unshaken.

Imagine you’re a hardcore MAGA guy. You’ve spent years mainlining right-wing media. You’re divorced and estranged from your queer kid. You finally work up the guts to attack a congresswoman for the cause. And every person you like and respect is calling you a libtard fed plant.

I talked a little in this piece I wrote about ilhan last month that she’s a big fan of combat sports, and the way that influences her treatment of politics. Last night you saw her first response to a physical threat was to square up and cock a fist. Case in point.

This is probably the most instructive moment in the evolution of the Democratic Party on Palestine so far— AIPAC is now running ads against one of its (now former) closest allies in Congress, Tom Malinowski, because Malinowski did not commit to *unconditional* support for Netanyahu specifically.
