one thing that kind of annoys me about a lot of newer TTRPGs is that they assume the players know the rules. in a lot of modern games, a character's cool moves require the player to have an understanding of the ruleset as complete as the referee - which can be a hard sell to potential players!

Guides are good because sometimes you're playing TotK and you spend 15 minutes trying to figure out the 'clever' 'correct' way of using physics alone to snooker the ball upwards into the target because there MUST be a way.

At first it was exciting to watch the system grow and grow and grow, adding 'content'. Right now it's exciting to watch word count shrink, as I reword and clarify things. #ttrpg

Tepid take: If you make something innately evil, people are GONNA WANNA break that rule. That's just how humans are. Piccolo in DBZ is supposed to be 100% pure evil, he's literally the evil part of a dude that was cast aside. So of course he gets a redemption arc.

There are more creative ways of fudging than fudging dice. Fudge the outcome. You wake up as a ghoul, but somehow with free will. You get knocked out. These aren't even particularly original, but I feel like they're truer to the spirit of the sandbox.
