The wyrmling and I received these beautiful Forgotten Realms books from WotC today. These covers are gorgeous and we are looking forward to delving into the lore and history of the Realms.

1. Let them make bad choices because bad choices are more fun. 2. Make every natural 1 as much fun as a natural 20 to get them to embrace character failure. 3. Don’t teach them to make optimal characters — they will learn fast enough on their own. 4. Embrace the Wild. 5. Know their boundaries.

Monster of the Week from the 9yo DM: These are not normal fire ants (which are bad enough), but these will swarm you and attack with actual fire... and poison... and make you feel dizzy until you fall prone within the swarm.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: Orcs in my world can be of any alignment, but goblins are evil little terrors. Me: That’s cool. Are the goblins always evil? 9yo DM: Yes. They are the evil spawn of Thrugahan the Least who hates everyone. He creates them to spread hatred.
