Yay XR Accessibility! So proud of our new Snap Turn feature. It was developed when snap turn was exactly what I needed. I had surgery, resulting in frequent down time, and this feature allowed me to playtest from bed without needing to turn my body. Owning this project made it much more meaningful.

Are there examples of games or apps in VR with captions for non-speech sounds, such as "BOOM" for an explosion or "SNAP" when a character snaps? Non-VR games with captions would be great to see as well. #A11Y #XR #gamedev

Content Creators, Do you regularly create content with your friends? Do you like games like Overcooked or Chained Together? Are you at least interested in VR games, if not already playing them? Then I want to hear from you. I'm cooking some things up this year, and I want to connect with y'all!

Another VR design insight. Embodiment! Your players want to be themselves role playing as someone in your world. They don’t want to be a “named character”. Don’t do a “voice in head” instead the world should react to how they choose to play. Even if it’s not the “golden path”.

Today was Long Covid Awareness Day. Main thing I want to say is I do think training us to abandon each other to permanent disability helped pave the path to fascism we’re now speeding down. Popping on a mask at the grocery store won’t cure all, but it’s one way to interrupt the eugenicist project.

It's 2024, games should not be launching without subtitles. For a game to count as having subtitles, they need to actually be readable. Far too many are not. Can we please have none of this in 2025. Collectively as an industry we need to be doing better, our players deserve better.

Here's a neat thing from last month! I was on a panel at M-Enabling Summit in Arlington, VA with Erin Leary, Sarah Heinzen, and Larry Goldberg! We talked about ways to enable people with disabilities to explore XR. I love that we serendipitously color coordinated our outfits with blue and violet 💜
