Some bugs I saw today

Drove all the way from Oulu to Turku today. Saw many cool birds on the way, like Curlews, Cranes, some birds of prey and a lot of lapwings. Good drive.

After eight years of thinking about it, I finally visited the old Viitaniemi Pegmatite quarry near Tampere! Found all kinds of cool rocks, mostly topaz. Will post photos later, now I gotta drive home...

Visited a well-sized glacial erratic boulder, the second-largest in Finland actually! It would be the largest if it wasn't split in two. The central stone is about 15 meters tall. Nothing you see in these pictures is bedrock, it's all erratic "loose" boulders moved here by the ice age.

This is such a common lichen, but I'm still so happy every time I see a nice mass of it. Look at them little trumpets...

A juniper near our house is hosting a *Gymnosporangium clavariiforme* -rust fungus. It flares up every spring to remind everyone of its presence. I always forget it's there, until the whole trunk suddenly turns bright orange!

Saw this very pretty buttefly (moth?) resting on the ground some days ago. Not sure which species exactly, but internet says Archiearis parthenias ("Orange underwing").

Went on a short walk in the forest to take bird photos. Met a couple of nice fellows. Also saw a Eurasian jay, but it flew away the moment I noticed it, as they do. 📷🐦
