In my D&D games I don't use alignment (since the 80s). As a shorthand for ethos I don't like it and I don't have a Law v. Chaos struggle. I just want to see well developed characters. Interestingly no player has ever asked me about the outer planes? Are the alignment planes a thing? No one cared.

Little known fact: Growing up in the 80s, no one said "I Love the 80s!" It seemed just as awful as any decade until we got older and looked back with rose colored glasses (in this case rose colored glasses with triangle shaped lenses and neon green plastic frames.)
