A a health literacy focused #medlib, the news about MedlinePlus AND outreach is devastating. BUT the mention of cuts to NCBI within that 40% reduction should chill everyone who does biomedical research. They maintain PubMed as well as Entrez, gene, protein, nucleotide, BLAST, PubChem...
