Excellent reporting on ground-level experiences of imprisoned folks fighting CA wildfires. A nice complement to Phil Goodman's work on these fire teams a decade ago (e.g., www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10....). Race divisions take different shape, protected custody divisions seemingly less so.
