Hi friends, Mets updates today: - Jeff McNeil is back in town with the A's. He always knew he could get traded, but after the Semien trade, David Stearns called him to say he was still a part of the team. So when he was traded to Sacramento, it was somewhat surprising. - Luis Severino is here too!

Apparently Zohran Mamdani is at Citi Field today. I don’t know why, but that’s exciting I guess!

Jorge Polanco is off today, his Achilles doesn’t feel great after playing yesterday. Carlos Mendoza said that at some point they might have to place him on the IL, but the situation remains “fluid.”

The Mets placed Juan Soto on the injured list and called up Ronny Mauricio. The move is backdated to Saturday, and the team estimates they’ll be without him for 2-3 weeks.

Nolan McLean loses the no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth. Willy Adames broke it up with a ground-rule double, and the Mets are taking McLean out of the game. He gets an ovation from the Mets contingent in Oracle Park, and from most of the Giants fans in attendance too.

Juan Soto left the game after the top of the first inning with right calf tightness. Tyrone Taylor replaces him in left field and batting second in the lineup. I'm so sorry everyone, please forgive me for delivering bad news!

The Mets have six healthy starters, but don't see a need for a six-man rotation the first few weeks of the season with so many off days. Sean Manaea will start the year in a piggyback role, though the Mets aren't ready to say which game he'll pitch in yet.

Howie Rose is an iconic broadcaster, and he's a genuine human. He provided Mets fans with a lifetime of memories and comfort when they tuned in to hear his voice year after year, even when the team was imploding. An incredible career worthy of the celebrations he'll be a part of this season.
