#Avs coach Jared Bednar said the target for Sam Girard's return is still by opening night (Oct. 7). He also said Mackenzie Blackwood is progressing, but echoed what he's said earlier in camp that his starting goalie might miss the start of the regular season.

As they cycle through some more reps, MacKinnon and Necas flipped places, making MacKinnon the net-front/behind the net guy. Also, Colton swapped in for Toews. #Avs have 11 potential power-play guys right now, and a healthy Sam Girard would make it 12.

#Avs coach Jared Bednar said Cale Makar missed the end of the game as a precaution. Thinks he is fine after the elbow to the head, but said they will know tomorrow.

Sam Lipkin elbowed Cale Makar earlier. He came out of the box and Gabe Landeskog immediately went after him. Tried to hip check him, then fought him and fed him a few rights. Lipkin very much had a "come on man, I didn't mean to" look before the fight, and did not enjoy that very much.

Gabe Landeskog just went five hole on a defender to set Tristen Nielsen in on net, and then he went five hole on the goalie. That was slick. The Mammoths have looked like a team that spent the day at the airport and arrived shortly before puck drop during the second period.

It's the first preseason game with a limited roster but ... The #Avs are using Val Nichushkin and Gabe Landeskog together as the bumper/net front combo on the power play. I think that duo could be a very bad time for opposing goaltenders ... if puck retrievals on broken plays aren't an issue.

Gavin Brindley may have two goals in less than six minutes. Or he has a goal and an assist. Either way, pretty good first impression in a game situation for the #Avs best North American-based prospect. Officially, he has two goals right now. Gabe Landeskog was in front on the 2nd one.

Walked from Ball to Magness today (an idea that didn’t look so great about halfway through, given Utah’s issues) but … ending it with some Saucy’s BBQ was definitely a great idea.

I believe the Mammoth plane is now in the air and en route to Denver. Can’t imagine this has been a fun day so far anyone involved there.
