You won't hear this on BBC so in case of doubt: people under occupation have right to resist their oppressors, inc with armed resistance. They can also seek and receive support from third states for their struggle. Third states have not only the right but *duty to support liberation struggles.

Pursuing IDF soldiers under the international criminal justice system is a start, but only a start. The civil justice system must also start suing them for every amputated limb, for every house destroyed, for every orphan left behind. Before paying for holidays, they must pay for their crimes.

The hubris of this. The unashamed, unapologetic, unbounded hubris. Even if we had no other evidence, this hubris of presuming they have a say where the people whose land they stole should live, that itself confirms the settler colonial mindset. But there’s more: there’s genocide.

This constant seeing one thing with our eyes and being told that the opposite is happening by our politicians and our media is rotting the soul. That's precisely what they want isn't it? A nation of apathetic, despondent, cynical zombies who give up on truth altogether.

Protesting the genocide is imperative. It's also necessary to read and reread Arab texts, history and culture. Texts that have been so demonised and misrepresented for decades, esp since 9/11, that committing genocide against Palestinians became possible, even acceptable, to the West.

There's the endless pain of displacement. Of becoming refugee in one's own land. I know that from Cyprus too. There's the pain of bombings, of starvation, of mutilation, of torture, of harassment. And there's the pain of Injustice. That pain, in and of itself, is debilitating.

We spend our whole life as academics bemoaning our powerlessness. Then a genocide is taking place and the victims ask that we condemn it, demand it ceases. And guess what. Some stay silent, others sign letters saying, "Well, is it really genocide." Shameful.
