The light-dark() CSS function and plain CSS make Dark Mode a breeze. Slowly but surely, @telebugs.com is getting darker and darker. Still more work to do...

Adding dark mode to an existing app is a monumental task. You have to tweak every nook and cranny and make sure everything still works together. But it’s absolutely worth it - your app turns gorgeous at night and stops giving you a headache 😍

These new checkboxes are probably the sexiest thing I’ve designed so far. Absolute UI dopamine.

It took a few tries to get the dark mode colors right, but I love the result. Still a work in progress!

Modern plain CSS is a breeze (as long as you don’t go wild with it). I’m adding Dark Mode to @telebugs.com, and all it takes is the `prefers-color-scheme: dark` media query and a few CSS variables. No SCSS, no Tailwind, no build step. It’s already in the browser. Embrace CSS - it’s powerful.

Dark mode in @telebugs.com. Should I build it?

I’m always on the move and handle social media fine on my phone, but @telebugs.com feels desktop-heavy. Beyond native push notifications (which rock!), what mobile-friendly tweaks could improve error tracking for us mobile people?

Building @telebugs.com on my own, I focused on what devs actually need, not what managers think we do. Since we live in monospace fonts all day, I'm adding a setting to make that the default.

As a solo founder, consistency and simplicity are your biggest friends. You need to make the best of the limitations you deal with. In @telebugs.com I have two different tables (Project Errors and All Errors) that show similar data, but:

Be careful out there: Hotwire Turbo’s link prefetching will quietly wreck your Rails session state. By default, Turbo prefetches any link you hover over. It’s fast... until it isn’t.

The error view in @telebugs.com currently defaults to “Today” (even though you can pick Last 7d, 30d, etc.). This sucks - I'm fixing it: ✅ Default range → Last 28 days ✅ Your chosen range will be remembered across sessions ✅ Switching to cursor-based pagination (true O(1) page loads)

There’s an ongoing issue with Cloudflare. Some of my projects, including @telebugs.com, are currently down and showing 500 errors. I’m monitoring the situation and will post an update once it’s resolved.

Small details matter. Testing this toast on the marketing site: it shows up as an error notification you might see in @telebugs.com. Clicking it opens the public demo dashboard.

In @telebugs.com, I use the Popover API to implement... well, popovers. It's straightforward! But it comes with gotchas... However, a lot of websites don't know about it and still use clunky solutions. Article coming soon.
