Post an album you’ve listened to 100 times I don’t have many, and what I do have is very much not going to resonate with most folks. And for this particular one, I’m counting all the times I’ve listened to the tracks here before they became an album.

I did the thing! I have paperwork! And now I get to endure so many bureaucratic paper cuts before I’m done!

Every year for Pride, I repost Hue. I made him to send love and comfort to those who feel Pride isn’t for them because they aren’t out. You matter, you are valid, and it’s ok if you aren’t ready yet. Coming out is not a requirement for being part of this community. Happy Pride 🌈

I’d like to give a quick note to folks experiencing Pride for their first time: don’t make any big changes this month. You’re gonna see a lot of people talking about a lot of things, and it’s gonna be overwhelmingly positive. And that’s all fantastic! It’s why we do this! But—

I absolutely adore images like this, because I can’t help but marvel at how many individual decisions it must have taken to produce it. Even artists probably don’t know how many, but each and every choice meant something.

I just looked up the courthouse so I could call and double-check my hearing time tomorrow. There’s a highlighted Google review that just says “This area isn’t as racist as you might think.” Yay? I guess? Still not exactly a glowing endorsement. 😬

Why did you transition, right answers only I gave up on waiting for a future that would never come. “Maybe I’ll be happy next year” is not sustainable.

Feels like the end of an era. I finally excised myself from the last bits of a community I was a part of for a really long time. I had some good times made some good friends, but it was time to move on. I’m still keeping in touch with a few people but for a different community.

This whole thread is great reading about the squidgy, messy situation of “trans-ness as a medical condition” framing, and the nuance and care we need to have when discussing this situation properly.

Ah, parenting. Had to teach kiddo about false equivalence after I told them to stop stomping around the new house and they responded by asking me how I’d feel if somebody told me I couldn’t be trans. Sigh. If they only knew.

It really sucks to have so much of my world fall apart over the course of the last year, but it finally freed us up to start over in a new city, where no one even knows my deadname. (Well, okay, a few people know it because the change isn’t official yet and I had to sign some stuff. But still.)

Another was a perfectly ordinary conversation with a friend while playing The Even More Incredible Machine on PC. We started discussing the difference between MIDI and what we called “digital music”, despite neither if us truly understanding either of those topics.

I actually keep a running list of these too, because I’ve given it a lot of thought over the years. The first was a group of kids in 4th grade that called themselves the “geek squad”. They bullied “geeks” and invited me to join. My initiation was bullying my best friend.

This is one nice thing about working in information security. Being critical of technology is an integral part of my job, even (especially!?) when my employer wants to barrel in head-first.

Somehow I ended up on a mailing that specializes in bras for small busts. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a small bust, and it’s actually kinda cool that such a company exists. But it’s so antithetical to my own transition goals that it almost feels like the algorithm’s trying to hurt me.

I didn’t know what dysphoria was. I had no way to recognize it and no vocabulary to describe it. I thought I lived happily as a man because I simply didn’t understand happiness. I thought the happiest I’d been was the happiest I could ever be. You don’t need to understand dysphoria to be trans.

If you’re a writer (or trying to become one? 🤔) write “I waited” without saying it. Bailey stood at the base of the ramp, facing the ship as it finished its landing sequence. Quiet. Calm. These don’t come naturally to her, and it never gets any easier. But this moment isn’t about her.

Now that I’m finally working to grow my hair out, it’s getting very curly in ways that I absolutely can’t stand. But I can’t tell yet if that’s because I don’t like having curly hair, or if it’s just residual effects from childhood experiences. I won’t be able to tell until I grow it out more.

I swear, as awful as transphobes can be, sometimes I see a religious group try to prevent their followers from literally knowing we exist, thereby stating the belief that we’re more powerful than their own god.

I was taking some junk out of my garage in preparation to move out of town, and along the way, I finally met my lesbian neighbor. We’ve lived next to each other for 3.5 years and we never even said hello to each other!

1/x: I absolutely LOVE Habitat for Humanity, so please don't get me wrong, but when I talked to them about building their houses accessibly from the start, they said no. They did have a program to modify houses they had build later "if it becomes necessary." But that misses the point.

I like being tall, but sometimes I make the mistake of looking at all the pretty tea dresses and subsequently wish I could remove a few vertebrae 😭
