I lost my job 9 months ago, and even though it wasn’t a big corporate job, I struggled with this really hard. Over months of rejection from companies big and small, I lost sense of who I am and what I do, because so much of my identity was wrapped up in my career.

I just saw this instagram post from the incredibly talented and breathtakingly hilarious Kate Welch, who was laid off around a year ago, and I wanted to share it here. It’s an important message, and you deserve to read it: (thread)

Think about this the next time somebody demands that we avoid disruption and violence. Consider what it means that the people who would run you over without a second thought, just to maintain their ability to run you over, insist that you not push back or even get out of the way.
