Felt like relaxing today with a Gameboy repair. This fella was given to me years ago. It would boot, but couldn't read carts. Suspecting the edge connector, I found one of the pins heavily corroded. So, I took some wire, bent it into shape, hardened it, and now it's playing again! #electronics

Please ignore my fucky wucky uwu I forgot that the output of the 74hc165 always asserts, so the dipswitch shift register bank and button bank were fighting over the single serial data input. lol To fix this an additional chip (CD4066) had to be added. #indiedev #arcade #electronics

Tic Tac Toe has been running great, then yesterday I find it off with the smell of ozone. 'Opened it up and found the lock relay was fried. This particular relay is energized the entire time the game is on, so it's not uncommon for them to burn up after a few years of service. #pinball

The new monitor came in early for the sitdown Nightmare Kart! The SSDs arrived with it too. After a quick Windows install, and not so quick Windows updating, it's now playable with external controls! While there's still plenty to do with the OS, let's get the cabinet controls working. #arcade

Sad to say that major progress on the sitdown Nightmare Kart is paused until the end of the month. Hisense has stopped making the particular model of 32" TV that I've used these last couple of years for driving cabinets. A 32" computer monitor is on the way, but won't get here until the 27th.

Trying to set up a boot drive for the sitdown Nightmare Kart arcade machine and Microsoft is being obnoxiously difficult about providing information and downloads for the IoT version of Win10. I wonder if the unified write filter(UWF) can be downloaded separately, that's all that's really needed.

The boot drive in the BuckUp&Drive arcade machine has been upgraded from USB 2.0 to 3.1 and it went from launching the game in 15 minutes down to just 2! Huge thank you to @pbu.bsky.social for not only making this possible, but for also providing an image of the drive for preservation! 💜

Wanna give a huge shout out and thank you to @din.icedragon.io!! They put together an "Arcade Edition" ROM hack for the Sonic 2 arcade machine! This helped fix a number of issues with running a home console game in a public setting. (Namely people pausing it then walking away lol)

Made some sawdust today with the custom pinball project! Got the dremel attachment installed and 3D printed some guides for the non-circular holes of the lower 1/4th. These are for the lane switches, slingshots, out lane kickers, and in lane targets. Getting close to the electronics phase!

Had to order a special attachment for my router and didn't realize who was supplying it. I'll let y'all know if it comically explodes in my face.
