For the main visuals, the Series Director's view for the first arc was to portray "stillness", so for the 2nd arc, whose visual was decided by the Sub-Series Director, what was portrayed was "movement". This is why the two sides are shown as just about to fight.

Basically, as the story progressed, you could start reading the catchphrase from a completely new perspective. Naito vs Kyo was "Elite vs Family" Granit vs Reina was "Reason vs Instinct" Hotaruko vs Makoto was "Cool-headed vs Sincerity"

The catchphrase for Digimon Beatbreak's Tactics Arc was "Perfection vs Freedom", and each pair also had its own catchphrase. For Raito vs Tomoro was "Prodigy vs Fool". The initial impression is that Raito is a "prodigy", but as the story progresses, you notice Tomoro might be the real prodigy.

Since there were many prototype designs for the characters in Digimon Beatbreak, quite some of the new characters were created using rejected designs as the basis. They might have changed some aspect like the face, size, or clothes, but the base is still there.

And speaking of rejected designs, Granit was also based on a rejected design, but this time from Kyo. Although the hairstyle and silhouette were kept, they reduced the size and changed the face. Sometimes they get asked what Granit's gender is, and they answer that he is a boy.

Tomoro had many early designs for Digimon Beatbreak, including some that looked an usual protagonist, but since that didn't fit the theme for the character, was rejected. That design became the basis for Raito, making Tomoro's rival what would be an usual anime protagonist.

During the "We are! Digimon PR department!" video, Designer Kojima was working on the design for Tactics when he was suggested to add a "K", from Kojima, to a design. This was included in Raito's headband. Originally, it was a solid color, but they added the request.

Tactics' designs were being made before their settings were fully finished; they only had a rough outline, so things like her family weren't decided. There was a worry of her design clashing with it in Ep17, but due to how it was portrayed, they thought it turned out well.

About Hotaruko, the design process was very smooth because they just picked elements they liked. Reina is an energetic girl with a wolf cut, so Hotaruko was meant to be the cool big sis with long hair, which was white originally, but changed due to a suggestion from the director.

Naito's attire was also decided looking at how they would balance out with Kyo's silhouette. Basically, the request was for another sexy character, and since Kyo was already the "slim and stylish" one, they decided to make Naito the muscular one.

Finishing these Digimon Beatbreak comments, the request for Naito was to "create a man who would steal your heart", but they already did for Kyo, leaving them unsure what elements to use now. Since Kyo was a usual slim and stylish design, they went with Naito being muscular.
