Article from the Sept 1982 Alabama Forum detailing the legal case of Baker v Wade that challenged sodomy laws. After winning locally, an appeals court reversed the lower court decision after the 1986 Bowers v Hardwick case (out of Georgia) that sustained sodomy laws until Lawrence v TX in 2003.

The relocation of the archives from Birmingham to Charlotte is bittersweet. While we're exciting for what's to come, we will deeply miss many phenomenal people in Alabama. AIDS Alabama and CEO Kathie Hiers are one of these.

OPINION Community archives are the antidote to the erasure of LGBTQ+Ā history
This month, President Trump chose to opt out of acknowledging World AIDS Day. Itās the first time the U.S. has not participated since the World Health Organization created this day in 1988 to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and to commemorate the lives that have been lost to the deadly virus. From executive orders targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) offices on college campuses to the U.S.

Last week we picked up two pronoun buttons from someone who worked at a now closed university diversity office. This one hit hard as one of our founders used to work there. While it's egregious these services are being shut down, we are working to make sure their history is saved.
