🚨In our new paper (doi.org/10.1016/S254... in @thelancetplanet.bsky.social, we develop the Healthy Urban Design Index (HUDI) to gauge the performance of 917 cities in 4 key domains in #Europe using #opensource data. We hope the HUDI can be a starting point for informing #sustainable #urban design.

I moved to Tacoma in June of last year; and since then, due to a combination of personal and professional reasons, I have spent a total of less than 2 months here. Decided to roam around the city a bit after coming back recently.

I have a new paper in Dialogues on Climate Change exploring climate outcomes under current policies. I find that we are likely headed toward 2.7C by 2100 (with uncertainties from 1.9C to 3.7C), and that high end emissions scenarios have become much less likely. journals.sagepub.com...

No, the world has not breached the 1.5C global warming target. It’s a climate target - which means it’s an average that must be sustained over at least a decade. We currently sit at 1.2 C. Which is already very bad. The science is clear: every bit of warming matters, every action matters.

It seems like I did not peak in 2023; 2024 was comparable. New DOE funding, new NASA funding, 17 papers (includes accepted; led 3), started working with 3 postdocs (on the 2023-funded DOE, NASA grants), became fully remote & 'traveled' for half the year, >1300 citations, EB1A 1-140 approval, etc.
