Instead of doing the sensible thing & working on my 30K Salamanders I decided to try painting some Thousand Sons using a ghost scheme I saw on Reddit. Really happy with the results, except the Mordant Earth didn’t really work, I guess I need to put it on thicker. Oops. (My first try with it)

New Sicarius is fine, looks good. BUT NEW CALGAR? WHY? Absolutely ridiculous. GW actively killing off other big name character models but releases a SECOND Primaris Calgar? I only got him last year from Imperium magazine! No wonder people are flocking to 3D printing, GW has completely lost the plot.

Calling the first half of my first Horus Heresy Salamanders tactical squad done apart from varnishing, happy with my first try but learnt a lot about the MK6 armour. Surprised I had no trouble with the tiny transfers on the legs lol. The base is orange to match my Legions Imperialis Salamander army.

Finally finished my first Warhammer 40K Space Wolves minis, a squad of Blood Claws. Life & video games kept getting in the way but I’m glad they’re done, my least worst paint job yet, happy with how they turned out. Drybrushing highlights+ marine juice+ contrast paint faces did the heavy lifting

Combat Patrol magazine went on sale in Japan, 499 yen for two models that sell for 12,400 yen direct from GW…🙄 The big chain store Yodobashi had a 1/customer rule (they are constantly being drained of Gunpla stock by tourists) but the nearby bookstore had tons so I got 3 more to make custom minis

Gundam Assemble isn’t out till 2026 so I was surprised to see on r/Battletech that the minis have been released via the card game! I didn’t realise since they’re sold in the card game section, not the hobby section in Japan. Picked up two today, will get the others later. The plastic feels gunpla-y

It’s sadly common to hear that new stuff “doesn’t respect the lore” or “dilutes the setting”, but I’ve yet to encounter any definition of these phrases that amounts to more than “I personally don’t like these changes”

Hobby stores in Japan often show off really amazingly painted gunpla models from customers, but I’m always happy to see the silly ones they also include

My Made To Order “heroes of the first company” Warhammer 40K terminators arrived after 3 months wait (my MTOs usually take a month). Interesting that they are in grey instead of original red plastic, got a combined manual, and the manual art is Ultramarines instead of the original Blood Angels (🙄)

Loved Mechwarrior 2 as a kid but had no idea about Battletech minis until 2023 lol. Got the AS box & a few packs but had no idea what to paint, so they gathered dust for a year. Finally painted Clan Diamond Shark as they seem the least worst clan, and Northwind Highlanders (based on the pilot cards)

Got the semi-gloss varnish spray out to protect some newly painted models before it rains. First is Warhammer 40K Iyanden craftworld Guardians & Farseer from the old Eldar combat patrol. Mostly just an experiment/fumbling attempt to paint yellow, not happy with the Farseer but gotta push on lol

Despite food poisoning, I’m happy that I finished my Legions Imperialis Dark Mechanicum models within a month (lighting speed for me). Hard to get the legs level so I put putty on the bases & pressed into it to make an indent for supergluing. Drybrushing made painting a breeze #warhammercommunity

Really interesting & fun insight into the plight of baby Primaris marines for chapters of the Blood

I was sick last week so instead of painting I played Terminator Resistance, which was on my pile of shame for ages. Definitely a “B tier” game but absolutely loved it, it manages to squeeze itself perfectly into the future-war parts of T1 and T2 and make it seem like it was always there. Tons of fun

Begging people in the replies & comments to every Warhammer post to stop over-hyping Gundam Assemble, it’s probably going to be a small scale boardgame not an epic tabletop wargame, please stop declaring GW dead😭 definitely looking forward to it but you’re setting yourself up for disappointment

I didn’t get nearly as much painting done this year as I wanted due to a lack of energy and focus, frustrating but oh well. Not very good but I enjoyed it, the Custodes were shockingly easy to paint. I had the most fun with the Xenomorphs though, figuring out how to get them kind of like in Aliens.
