So it’s a month late (or 50 years and a month late) but finally put up my wall calendar. Calendars repeat. This year happens to repeat 1975.

Trump has deployed active military to help round up migrants and put them into detention camps. The military forced us out of our homes at gunpoint in 1942 because we were considered possibly disloyal Americans. They sent us to internment camps for four years. History is repeating. Pay attention.

Is it bad when your LCS owner texts you a picture of a comic and asks if you’ve seen it in the store because they can’t find it. I have free rain to go through and many boxes, bins, behind the counter, whatever at the shop and he was hoping I spotted it when I was in 😂

Received this beauty for my birthday and it makes all my other artist’s editions look puny. Batman Year 1 David Mazzucchelli Artist Edition. I have no clue where to put this 😂

Just bought a book that even the seller described as Poor with more flaws then I normally would even think of going near. It would probably grade a 0.5 at best. And I still bought it just because of what it is and wanting to own it. More to share when it arrives.

Well, it finally happened. Time to fill in some of my Action Comics run this week.

Real world has been kind of busy so haven’t been online or posted much the last month. But thought I’d share this weekends pickups. This actually consisted a complete run of Marvel Collectors’ Item Classics for me. Next I need to finish Fantasy Masterpieces.

Was at my LCS yesterday and saw these. Both in beautiful shape. 8.0-9.0 easy with the White Cover one in nicer shape. You don’t see treasuries that look this nice too often. I didn’t need either one but I was impressed. He hadn’t priced them yet but I’m sure they’ll be expensive and they’ll sell.

Well Holy Shit

I did not think I had this many rolled posters. Opened the cabinet to put some away and pretty much every rack is filled. Some of this was my dad’s stuff. After 20 years might be time to clear some of that out.

Well this was unexpected this morning. Guess it was hotter than I thought yesterday. Never had an unopened can of soda explode in the car before from the heat.

I think I’ve had more in person meetings today than I’ve had since before Covid. 4 meetings today in an actual conference room with other actual human beings in the room.

Haven’t given whole blood in over 4 years. Forgot just how quick it goes. They had that needle in, blood drawn and needle out in under 15 minutes. For perspective I’ve spent the last 4+ years exclusively donating platelets. For me the platelet draw is about 2.5 hours just for the draw portion.

Had to pull out the white board today to explain something to my intern. He seems a little overwhelmed. I think this makes perfect sense.

There’s literally somebody in this meeting right now that sounds like Celebrity Jeopardy Sean Connery and it’s killing me. Thankfully I’m on mute.

Finished entering all this weekends comic buys and Batman (Bruce Wayne) is getting dangerously close to Superman (Clark Kent/Kal-El) here. But that’s mainly because CLZ separates out Kal El Superboy from Kal-El appearances. Add Superboy and there is a huge buffer

It’s not a flashy series and never going to be a big thing. But I’ve been a huge Superboy fan for 40 years. This fills in a little gap in my run and now gets me complete on all regular issues of Superboy from Vol. 1 120 (Apr 1965) to the present. For me this one was a big get.

This gets me down to 5 issues to complete Captain America from 100 to present. Still 14 issues short of completing his run in Tales of Suspense though.

Picked up. @johnlivesay.bsky.social inks over unknown artist’s blue lines. It was a con where I was whittling down my Hulk want list so it feels appropriate. These two get my Hulk list down to 6 to have the run from 102-present. And since 2 of those 6 are 180 and 181 I’m going to say 4 left I’ll buy

Got this classic Jose Louis Garcia Lopez poster in the mail last week. Had to get it signed. And Heroes Initiative had this great Super Powers print there this weekend too. Yeah, the non prints bow died easily.

I really had to get the Gumby poster signed by Art Adams. It was a must.

Decided I’ve got all these classic promo posters from my teenage collecting years now, might as well get some of them signed by the creators. And to keep the theme going picked up a new print from @kevinmaguire.bsky.social while I was getting these signed.

From C2E2. I wish my phone’s camera could do this Jenny Frison print of @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com Death justice. It is just gorgeous. I went into this con with a “don’t buy any prints, just comics and art books plan.” She broke that plan as like my first purchase.

So C2E2 was good this year. Filled in some gaps. Reduced some of this years collecting goals. Got a bunch of art books and prints. Got some cool autographs. Got to see some good friends I don’t see too often. Some pickups. I’ll be sharing more as I unpack.

Off to C2E2. Should have my badge in hand in 4 hours. Even remembered to pack some stuff to get signed this year.

It only took 14 months but this Kickstarter finally arrived. The massive delays in this don’t give me a lot of confidence going into the next Kickstarter they advertised for in this shipment.

It’s take your child to work day so I’m keeping the office door closed during all my meetings so kids don’t have to hear the swearing.

So I’ve run this platform for 4.5 years now and they’ve finally told me what my yearly budget is supposed to be. I guess that’s progress. Nice of them to tell me and then tell me they’ve just taken taken $770k out of it this year. But at least I now know my metric.

How does one not love Silver Age DC covers?

Went into the LCS yesterday for my pulls and some boards. Left with Pulls, a complete run of the first Alien Legion series, some second series issues, 2 Whitmans and a Super-Friends. They let me roam the unsorted stuff and I always find something.

Got some new old posters yesterday. Some had been hung. Some rolled wrong and wavy. None mint. Don’t care. I’m pressing a bunch of them now for the waves. Here is some of them. @comicfoil.bsky.social @vinsonlovescomics.bsky.social have to love that Marvel Fanfare.

Was at my LCS and the owner goes you’re kind of a comic historian. Let me show you something. Says he’d never heard of it before someone brought it in. Walked me over to it. Asked me if I knew it. My answer “know it, want nothing to do with it.” Lost Girls. He was just “yeah, I didn’t know.”

Love that window of time between when you find an eBay auction that doesn't properly describe what's in it so you're looking at a good bargain and the end of the auction when someone else might also stumble across it and outbid you. Only 16 more hours to wait.

One of the things I love about going through my dad’s stuff was the man labeled nothing. I have no freaking clue who these signatures are. Not a clue

Thing I hate about being assigned a co-op is the fact I tend to forget I have a co-op.

Now that’s a first for me. Went to scan in my weekly pickup this morning and hit CLZ maintenance. Never had that happen. I know they have to do it, just in the years I’ve used the app never run into it

Went into the LCS today and started going through some of the unsorted new acquisitions. Bags were so old owner gave me latex gloves to wear as I looked through😂 Found a few things. @comicfoil.bsky.social figured you’d appreciate the What If? @vinsonlovescomics.bsky.social got the MTIO 54 finally.
