long shot, but: has anyone recently had a paper accepted at Mind & Language since they moved to the new portal? how long did you have to wait after de-anonymizing and final proofing for it to officially be accepted? treating this stage as a "minor revision" then making me wait weeks is killing me 😭

lot of this also stems from the societal fantasy that we can directly compare getting an A in an identically titled class at Place X and Place Y. As someone who's taught at a range of institutions, most of us are scaling the intensity of our coursework up or down depending on the student population!

I know someone writing a hit piece on one of my papers is a good sign (means people are reading my work!), but, ngl, it does feel kinda weird that the first time for it to happen is by a senior (emerita!) person in my subfield. Do you know you're dunking on something I wrote in grad school lol

One thing students often think about philosophy classes is that there’s no right answer, and while thats not literally true, it’s sorta in the neighborhood of something true. What they tend to overlook, though, is that there *are* lots of wrong answers

the job market version of this is having an equal proportion of search committees interviewing you being kinda annoyed at your work for being too sciencey/not "real" philosophy enough vs. being too philosophy-y/not sciencey enough

people like this also fail to consider the joy of an overpriced airport beer
