The Constitution clearly gives Congress the power to spend taxpayer funds, and no law allows the president to halt if he feels some US states aren’t being “good stewards” of the money. In case there’s any confusion on this, the Impoundment Control Act forbids it. Taxation without representation.

I know this seems like a really trivial detail to get stuck on but this degree of escalation of force combined with zero warning is something I've never seen. For that to get unleashed on normies just moving along in broad daylight? Christ.

As of yesterday there is an injunction that stops the use of tear gas etc (except when a fed thinks they're in imminent harm etc). Even if the injunction is followed, this merits an investigation. It's outrageous that they shot tear gas like this at anyone, let alone a family-friendly march

Tear gas (which should not be used on children) (which was not justified in use against any of those people) (which should be illegal in general) should be skipped on the ground. They're launching it into the air.

I genuinely cannot imagine this kind of scale and this suddenness being my first experience with tear gas. I am pretty astounded at the crowd's discipline, that no one panicked or trampled each other in that massive cloud.

I've never had tear gas launched at me straight from over my head until now. That's also what happened to these unmasked, normie daytime protesters. ICE is shooting the tear gas up in the air so it arcs and falls way across the street and into the next block.

This account from someone a few blocks away really gets at the sudden escalation. This was a family outing to a park on a relatively warm Sunday afternoon — kids on bikes, the family meeting up with grandma. Now you have to explain tear gas and police brutality to your 8-year-old.

DOJ has broken the social contract under which they deserved a degree of deference. Serve the public and enforce the law, then courts, lawyers, and the people grant the presumption DOJ is trying to do that. The Trump DOJ, in words and actions, rejects that in favor of lies and aiding lawbreaking.
