My former job @mpifg.bsky.social now comes with a tenure track. I'm obviously biased, but this is a great opportunity for comparative/international political economists and an important milestone for the MPIfG (see Philipp's thread). Happy to answer questions about what the job was like for me!

Man sieht auch absolut keinen Rechtsruck unter Arbeiter:innen, wenn man Rechts-Links-Positionierungen anschaut. Der Teil der Arbeiterklasse, der vorher schon rechts war, hat in der AfD eine Partei gefunden. Linke Arbeiter wurden dagegen vergessen und demobilisiert.

Es ist ein bisher einmaliger Vorgang: Eine Bundesbehörde will ein Demokratie-Projekt weiterfördern – aber das Innenministerium untersagt die Finanzierung ohne Begründung und trotz Warnung anderer Beamten. Wir veröffentlichen die Dokumente zum Förderstopp gegen die "Radikalen Töchter":

Man kann die Pressekonferenz dazu fast schon fühlen. Neue Heizungsfreiheit eliminiert Kostentreiber EE und erlaubt durch verpflichtende Biogasbeimischung endlich das Hochfahren der heimischen Gasindustrie, wobei inländisches Fracking wegen der hohen Gaspreise zum Wachstumstreiber wird 🤡

Die Sektion Wirtschaftssoziologie freut sich sehr, auch in diesem Jahr wieder den Karl-Polanyi-Preis für eine herausragende Monografie auf dem Gebiet der Wirtschaftssoziologie auszuloben. (Selbst-)Nominierungen nimmt der Vorstand gerne bis zum 30.4. entgegen. Wir freuen uns über Reposts :)

The AfD performs particularly strongly in parts of rural Baden-Württemberg affected by prospects of manufacturing layoffs (especially in areas reliant on automotive & mechanical engineering industries). Constituencies with higher manufacturing employment show a very strong shift toward the AfDs.
