I’ve been plugging away for years at my little zines and fonts and such, because I would honestly go nuts if I didn’t have creative outlets, but as the years go by I also feel strongly that telling queer stories and making queer art — even nerdy stuff like mine — is radical and important and real.

Adam here is having a little more fun with its type, but the rough spacing is making me wonder if these are locally hacked versions made for dealing with Polish. Makes me wonder about the dynamics of the Eastern European font scene at the time.

João’s whole thread is fascinating, but its intersection with my Hot Type project is also notable. There was not yet such a wide range of decent digital fonts for the Cyrillic script, and it’s interesting to see what they did with a basic palette.

The Berlin airport is always quite a hoot on Easter Monday

Was trying to post some beautiful portraits I took of artist AA Bronson this week, but I’m entirely too annoyed by the automatic content labels that insist that the inclusion of a painted nude portrait in the background constitute explicit sexual content.

Somewhat flattering bathroom light at the start of a night out, brutally greenish elevator lighting at the tail end of a few hours on the go.

At my hotel in Schöneberg, enjoying the slow transition of the breakfast room this week, as the 3-generation German families on spring holiday slowly give way older men in tight t-shirts.

To the best of my knowledge, this photo is still a Pink Mince exclusive: Robert Mapplethorpe chatting with Elliott Siegal (then-manager of the St. Mark’s Baths in Greenwich Village) outside of a West Village bar in 1978. Siegal was the model that Mapplethorpe shot for the cover of Drummer #24.
