Your IKEA product name is your name spelled backwards with an umlaut. I am QNÖLP, an overstuffed love seat that isn't as comfy as it looks, and never quite matches the decor.

I bought what I thought was a pound of stew beef at the butcher shop on Sunday. The lady taking my request even repeated it back to me as such. When I unwrapped it today, I discovered she gave me ground beef instead. I can work with this. I guess. Everyone's allowed a brain fart now and then.

If you ever feel like you need a bit more stress in your day, try re-flashing your system BIOS. The harrowing 2-3 minutes of watching the status bar tick on the screen, while simultaneously keeping an eye out for any cats that might want to bump your USB stick will remind you that you're alive.

Hey Linux folks, I was thinking of installing it on my old Surface Pro 3 now that Windows 10 has reached EOL. I tried booting up Mint as a trial on it from a USB stick, and it seems to support all of the hardware just fine. What flavour would you recommend for a complete Linux newbie?

I made sauerkraut soup to use up the last of our Kobassa and bacon. I mixed things up a bit from the last time I made this by adding some carrots and an apple to inject some sweetness. The red bit in the bowl is a whole fish pepper from the garden. It's delicious.

Thank goodness they insist on shoehorning AI answers into the top of search engine results. It serves as a good reminder not to trust much of the slop they churn out. Time to build a few more data centres, eh? This is what they are replacing actual humans with, folks.

Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year? How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.
