Such a pleasure meeting the community of Elgol last night. I was invited to talk about the palaeontology fieldwork taking place here, and the story of the Elgol Dinosaur. People brought beach finds to share and identify, and we discussed ways to put local discoveries on display.

In the field again this week in what's become a second home. The sea is sculpted in sandstone. The Cuillin wearing their customary cloud bonnet. Fossils gu leor 💙

Not done a #fossilfriday for a while, so in honour of being in France just now, heres the type specimen of Meganeura! Was pretty excited to see this famous 'giant dragonfly', which lived 300 million years ago. First discovered in Commentry, France in 1880 and described by Charles Brongniart.
