Can you spot the atmospheric river? The intensity of the low pressure system off the PNW has oriented the AR in a north/south direction over California. Keeps the party going for awhile in SF and Sacramento!

Time to open the resorts in Tahoe? This weeks storm is trending colder. Looks like a good 10 to 15 inches for most resorts and 3 to 6 inches at lake level by Friday.

I've missed writing about hurricanes, but this was not a fun strom to write about. Devastation awaits Jamaica and Cuba.

Also, Hurricane Melissa is quite a thing to look at. Beautiful and terrifying. One recent measurement recorded sustained winds of 180 mph around the eye. This will be a historic storm for Jamaica and not in a good way.

Wow, some impressive rainfall totals around the Bay Area. Much of this fell in just a few hours. 1.69 inches in San Jose would make it a top 10 wettest day in the last two decades. And how about that 2.19 inch reading in Oakland!

Rain is approaching San Francisco and will begin within the next 30 min. Downpours across the Bay Area could cause nuisance flooding, especially during the evening commute. Thunder and lightning is possible as the atmosphere becomes increasingly unstable this afternoon.
