This is quite useful at the moment since the main NWS radar in the Santa Cruz Mountains is out of service today due to technical issues.

Must be raining in San Francisco, right? Nope. Dry air at the surface. No droplets reaching the ground. Some nice moisture laden cloud cover though and I am liking the "muggy" feel for a change of pace.

Looking at this satellite imagery with no context, it would appear as if a major hurricane was about strike the East Coast. Weather models have come such a long way. We've know for several days now that Erin will curve back out to sea and not impact the US.
