It benefits us all for our neighbours not be destitute & starving. The money invested in welfare comes back to community businesses & alleviates some strain on health care systems & homeless facilities. Arguing for welfare cuts is cruel, but it is also economically illiterate

Right, now that #GE24 is over, I think we are getting into a quieter time where the biggest stories will be Christmas related. No better time for me to move my primary platform to Bluesky

I am both dumbfounded and a little bit envious of anyone who can allow an election to go past without engaging at all. For so many people (41% at least) the past 3 weeks have just been normal November/December days in the run up to Christmas- bizarre #GE24

I strongly believe that there will be a time in the future when countries like Britain will look back and wish that inward migration had been even higher

One thing that has REALLY bothered me over the past few days is the number of young men who have almost instinctively lined up behind Conor McGregor. I have two sons and I would genuinely be horrified if they were spouting this stuff 15-20 years from now

Speculating about the potential doom of a Trump presidency is incredibly unuseful. It’s happening now, so we all just need to accept that. Save the energy for when he actually does something detrimental and we can push for steps to be taken against it #Election2024

The thing I am looking forward to in #GE24 is how @fiannafailparty and @finegael differentiate themselves. They are in essence the same party, so how they can position themselves as rivals without actually changing substantively will be interesting.

I’ve tried this app a few times now, but it never seemed to have caught on. I’m hoping this time is different, because I really do think we can do better than Twitter/X Anyway, if we knew each other in the other app (or you are new and not an anonymous profile) , I’ll follow back.
