I want to program a, npc following a zigzag path that's looking the direction it's walking. I'm new to writing unit AI, especially around movement. Searching for this information is a quagmire of AI resulting that mean something completely different. I guess npc behavior is the new term? #gamedev

Day 4 of not finding a reliable way to put an outline around the outside a 3d mesh cube in #godot. You could send food, but I'd prefer solutions that don't have the corner problem.

I'm working thru a 3d game in #godot right now. I was thinking about how to connect the environment to the player so that he player can easily signal the color of the sky with minimallayers. In a moment that felt fully illegal, i just nested the environment node under the player. Problem solved.

#dev if anyone is wondering if they should learn HTML (with a side of understanding CSS) the answer is yes. Though it's not been a required skill in any of my IT positions, i use it every year. Just enough understanding to easily look up gaps in your knowledge will go so far.

Figured I'd use @kenney.nl 's prototype assests so that my project can go nice and quick, then what do i do? Can't leave well enough alone so I'm messing with them in blender trying to learn that instead of my project. The learning is going great though, getting really good at setting up materials.

I don't have to know how the full game works, I just have to open up the engine and implement the next 1 small part. I'm not even making a game, just a prototype. I don't have to be paralyzed by the enormity of everything, just one thing at a time. #gamedev score now updates on enemy kills.

I miss when tv remotes blinked when you pressed a button - it let me know right away if the battery was dead, but now? Is the battery dead? Did the smart tv freeze? Is the toy blocking the sensor? Is the other toy blocking the sensor? Are Venus and Jupiter arguing over their alignment?

The one upside of generative AI is that it made me value human-made art more. Art that didn't really impress me before feels way more meaningful now. Thanks slop, you made me appreciate human creativity more than ever.

It recently came out to the kido (8) that "mom" goes easy on her when playing #boardgames. She demanded that I play her for real. 1/10th of my real power and I beat her at #evolution by double the score. Upset, but no tears - she's ready for the real training.

Today I learned how to check the logging outside of the engine to debug a problem. My build was working fine when exported with debug, and failing to load when release. Turns out debug was hiding an error that was causing the main scene script to fail to compile. #godot #indiedev #debugging #devlife

I've noticed in the recent years that I'm performing a different kind of typo. Instead of just pressing the wrong button or doing a misspelling, I'll type a synonym, like I'll intend to type "one" and end up with "won" instead. #why #humansweird #linguistics #maybe
