Perfect choice on the final day of #ChristmasMoviesAdvent Christmas Eve in Italy watching this absolutely brilliant Italian Christmas Eve dark comedy with one helluva twist. Loved it. Buon Natale ya filthy animals! 🐍🎄🇮🇹

Day 23 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent relies on having seen the original, everyone’s angry with someone they’ve slept with, vile men send dic pix, but it was the dropping of the ‘c-bomb’ plot that finally made me gave up. But don’t hate, donate. @cruk-mi.bsky.social

Day 22 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent the snowMAN is such an innocent that a. I was genuinely very concerned about the dangers of him melting and b. the gaze can occasionally feel a bit icky, but this is brilliant fun with a well-loved cast who know EXACTLY what they’re doing. An absolute must watch!

Day 21 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent the lesser-celebrated but brilliant festive Jimmy Stewart picture still warms the cockles and lifts the spirits. What it lacks in plot it makes up in charm and no one does polite man’s anger quite as well as big Jim. Lovely.

Day 20 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent I’ve resorted to the oldies in the hunt for genuine Christmas charm and romance and of course this delivers! Mitchum’s violent kisses are a bit cape fearsome so I was rooting for the other guy but Janet’s a delight!

Day 19 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent at one point you can see that the ‘snow’ has bent over and folded in on itself. They left that in.

Day 18 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent Danny Glover is not too old for this shiz! Cast are perfect in family reunion for widower Dan at Christmas. A few cringe moments aside, women mostly in the kitchen/men having affairs, this is an easy watch while you get ready for pub quiz!

Day 16 & 17 I have tried so hard to finish this film but it’s just not going to happen. It feels like no 2 people are in the same film, is it supposed to be wacky/ sincere/friends to lovers without friendship? Nobody knows and too long to find out. I’m sure it all works out. Hope so.

Day 15 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent musical Santa by our own Gerry B, animation that’s a delight to see, jingles, merriments and plenty of snow, 80mins of couplets is quite a lot though. Good for wee yins.

Day 14 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent I was saving this all year after the glowing reviews but its melancholy mood and generally unlikeable males really disappointed. Yuletide introspection is fine but I need a bit more jingle jingle and joy please and thank you.

Day 13 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent I wanted cheeky-chappy Taron to make this into a more of a Die Hard sorta fun vibe but it’s a wee bit too serious for what it is. Entirely watchable but coulda been a contender if they’d let him sparkle a little!

Day 12 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent at laaaaaast a leading man you root for from the get go! The best of the season so far! Hyper Christmassy, heavy on the romance and no one had to leave the big city or give up their successful careers for love! Just the motivation needed at the halfway point! Gorgeous!

Day 11 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent and those cats, 60 years ago, knew how to mellow out the kids at Chrimbo. A chill way to spend half an hour while lil’ Charlie is pulled out of his funk. Groovy man.

Day 10 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent Hopkins’ Herod is the draw but this still feels like faith filmmaking and not the fully-rounded Mary myth busting I was looking forward to. Fine while you hunt your house for spare keys. That you didn’t find.

Day 9 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent loved the Santa logistics beginning and end, but the Dungeons n Dragons-style middle let my mind wander to who’d be better cast in this misfire blockbuster couldabeen, I think they needed someone a bit nerdier and funnier than Chris Evans. 13yr old boys will love it!

Day 8 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent fast becoming the queen of the genre, Lindsay knocks it outta the park again this year. Great cast manage to sell the conceit of exes in cahoots though it’d be nice to see one of these films break the republican mould. At least she’s still got her career by the end.Fun.

Day 7 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent ugly animation does not take away from the sweetness of the kids just being great in this cosy wee film for families. Stellar cast bring some warmth to the flat-faced adults too. A wee tear in my een and festive spirits renewed!

Day 6 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent very silly but ideal if you only have one hour to meet your daily advent mission. I’d recommend the remake, Genie, but this was daft, old-school, and kinda joyful. Weird but lovely seeing young Alan Cumming playing against type. Deliberate nonsense.

Day 5 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent Chad’s hair tries to add a bit of bounce to a dreadfully dull hometown Magic Mike at Christmas but even Lucas Scott can’t justify the girl’s abandonment of a successful dance career to stay in Smalltown USA. A slog.

Day 4 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent lovely chemistry between Melissa and Mario just about saves the very dodgy kidnapping premise, everyone is happily armed to the hilt, in a slow but ultimately sweet mid-budget number. Perfectly calming while you do your taxes.

Day 3 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent and the always reliable Leighton Meester holidaying with the ex’s silly, sweet family does a good job at getting me on board even if we are supposed to be rooting for a fella who if he was chocolate, would eat himself. Fine while you do the dishes.

Day 2 #ChristmasMoviesAdvent with Ben Stiller and Linda Cardellini in a classic comic conceit, but with a melancholic tone and almost indie pace this was a slog to finish. Loved the last ten mins though. Weird.

#ChristmasMoviesAdvent begins in earnest as tradition dictates but this time with the old man roped in for LA and tree. Even after all these years, I absolutely loved it as a result! Dad chuckling away any time Bill Nighy was on screen reminded me that most of this is still very funny, actually! 🎄❤️
