$5,800 donation to the Sask United Party by "Anonymous, Anonymous" (which is very much illegal in our province). $465,000 loan aka donation by the Sask United Party leader's corporation (which is legal). We need reform of our ridiculously weak political donation laws.

I wrote a letter recently. Here is the completely inadequate response from our Justice Minister. I guess I am wrong, we have a robust and transparent political donation process. Silly me. Pathetic.

The SIPPA program is important in that it provides a stream of physicians entering our province who otherwise wouldn’t. I’m very curious about the medium to long term retention rates though as it seems they so rarely stay in our province.

Very interesting piece from our former federal Environment Minister. Well worth a read. The playbook used by Oilsands companies is very similar to the one that was used by Tobacco companies. It is lunacy that we allow them to donate huge sums of money to our provincial politicians in SK.

Contrast the words of our premier stating people will get their primary care from an urgent care clinic with those of Vicki Mowat the NDP health critic who gets it. She correctly identifies the causes of bed block, and role of LTC placements, primary care and community resources in alleviating it.

Does the Premier realize that Urgent Care Clinics do not in fact "ensure that people have access to a primary health care provider?" Urgent Care Clinics provide episodic care, not primary care. It's a bit alarming to see him so misinformed on the issue.

I love how the ministry of health can just decide if they want to pay doctors or not often times based on arbitrary rules. This happens on a smaller scale every day. My favourite is when a diabetic patient books in for a review appointment 89 days after their last one instead of the required 90.

It’s not a question of massive unsustainable intervention. The cuts need to stop, because we are getting hamstrung in hospital. And the resources outside hospital are only surviving on the charity of others, not because of any government funding.

In October, we lost our inpatient addictions consult teams. It has been a huge blow to our hospitalists who see these vulnerable patients daily. Our ability to treat these patients is second to that of an addictions specialist, and I can only imagine our AMA rates will climb.

I totally agree with everything you’ve said. But I do worry the screenshot misses the mark; it implies blame to our hospitalist teams. While I cannot comment on the circumstance, as I’m not familiar with the case, I think Dr. Takaya’s quote hits the nail on the head more.

I am still seeing so many patients that start talking about hand washing when they are sick with a respiratory illness. It’s the air! There was a huge missed opportunity to educate the masses about the nature of transmission of respiratory illness. Great explainer here from Dr. Fisman
