Item of the Week FLASHBACK: Though #StarWars debuted in Philadelphia on May 25, 1977 at Eric's Place for 23 weeks, it continued at the Sameric-owned Mark I another 37 weeks. Located in the basement of a Holiday Inn, it was the only area theater offering it in 70mm/Dolby 6-track.

10 years ago today, I saw #TheForceAwakens for the 5th time at my moviegoing house of worship, the Arlington in my hometown of Santa Barbara. I'd seen every other #StarWars film on the big screen for the first time there, so it's a sacred site for me to say the least.

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: To finish off the year, this foldout brochure advertises the December 28, 2016 release of #RogueOne in South Korea and features the country's theatrical one sheet artwork on the front cover. The interior presents a unique collage of imagery.

tem of the Week: Capping off the 10th anniversary retrospective for #TheForceAwakens, this trade ad from the TCL Chinese Theatre celebrated the historic cinema becoming the first IMAX venue to gross $1 million with Episode VII's box office dominance.

10 years ago tonight, we ventured to the West Wind Santa Barbara Drive-In for a 4th viewing of STAR WAR (or #TheForceAwakens) under the stars on Christmas night. May the Force bring you some light tonight as it did for me a decade ago.

Item of the Week: Carrying on Episode VII's 10th anniversary lookback, this card from the Disney Parks Synergy Team commemorated an Opening Night Event for #TheForceAwakens at Walt Disney World on December 17, 2015.

The former film archivist in me is going to need a 6 part Ken Burns style docuseries on the restoration process, with this being a key moment addressed.

Item of the Week: To kick off a month of celebrating the 10th (?!) anniversary of #TheForceAwakens, this promotional pamphlet from Japan hyped the new movie's December 18th release in that market.

Item of the Week: Like the first 5 minutes of BATTLE FOR ENDOR, today personally went from tranquility to chaos, but there's still time to celebrate this insane sequel's 40th with this home video ad. Who doesn't need a "lovable, magical adventure with a huggable bonus"? (I sure do)

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This set of 12 lobby cards were on display in cinemas for the release of LA AVENTURA DE LOS EWOKS. Broadcast as CARAVAN OF COURAGE on November 25, 1984 as ABC's Sunday Night Movie in the U.S., it was released theatrically in Spain in August 1985. (1/3)

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This invitation offered admission to an advance screening of #TheEmpireStrikesBack at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on May 3, 1980, nearly three weeks before EMPIRE went into general release on May 21.

Item of the Week: 40 years ago today, Lucasfilm hosted a preview of EWOKS: THE BATTLE FOR ENDOR in San Francisco. This screening pass has some charming Marauder-themed artwork and tagline "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the forest..." Spoiler alert: IT WAS NOT.

Having finally had a chance to catch up with Volume 3 of VISIONS, I immediately dreamt of how incredible and insane it would be so see a short like BLACK — and so many others — from close range on a big screen in a darkened cinema. This type of work absolutely deserves it.

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This May 9, 1980 radio survey from the Bay Area's once prominent but now defunct 610 KFRC features a promotion the station was running that offered a chance to attend the San Francisco premier of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

In retrospect this may have helped.

Item of the Week: This ad from B. Dalton Booksellers promoted a November 10, 1977 appearance by the "Dark Lord of the Jeddi Knights" himself. Vader would "summon his malevolent powers" to answer questions and autograph select #StarWars books for brave Chicagoans. Happy Halloween!

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This handbill was printed for the Icelandic release of "Stjörnustríð" in July 1978. Presented with the original soundtrack and Icelandic subtitles, Logi Geimgengill ("Flame Spacewalker") made his screen debut, as did a Wookiee named Loðinn ("Hairy").

Item of the Week: As we creep toward Halloween, here is a flyer for a #StarWars masquerading late 1970s re-release of STAR PILOT: ENCUENTROS DE LAS GALAXIAS (or as it was originally known in 1966 Italy, 2+5: MISSIONE HYDRA). (1/2)

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This 1983 General Cinema Theatre Guide includes a feature on #ReturnOfTheJedi (the conclusion of the "middle" of three #StarWars trilogies) noting that the Empire has a new armored Space Station "that makes the dreaded Death Star look like a go-kart."

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: This large ad ensemble was created for print publications to promote the first theatrical re-release of #TheEmpireStrikesBack on July 31, 1981 where it would take in another $13,000,000 at the box office.

Item of the Week: This smaller size, program-like pressbook was distributed by 20th Century Fox for #ReturnOfTheJedi (or LE RETOUR DU JEDI)'s release in France and includes profiles on the filmmakers, cast and magic-making crew.

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: Vol. 5, No. 1 of Motion Picture Product Digest features critic Richard Gertner's review of the original #StarWars from June 8, 1977. Gertner proclaimed that “it’s got something for everybody and his family, from eggheads to hardhats. It can’t miss.”

Item of the Week: This advertisement from Germany heralded the availability of #TheEmpireStrikesBack (or DAS IMPERIUM SCHLÄGT ZURÜCK) for home viewing on Super 8 from UfA.

Item of the Week FLASHBACK: With #ReturnOfTheJedi getting a nationwide theatrical re-release in March 1985, Kenner and Coca-Cola paired up for a tie-in that included a contest with instant prizes as well as a toy rebate program, as advertised on this flyer distributed to moviegoers.

Item of the Week: This colorful print ad presented numerous rebate savings on Kenner toys in conjunction with the April 10, 1981 theatrical re-release of the original #StarWars – including an extra dollar for sending in your movie ticket stub!
