Honestly, if Netflix saved āWheel of Timeā all would be forgiven. Well, maybe not all but most.

Woke up immediately knowing how to use season 1 of the wheel of time as flashbacks āstarting the show in season 2. How is everyone else. Why does my brain do that.

āWhy are folks getting dumber?ā Because they donāt read. āWhy arenāt men as romantic & poetic as they used to be?ā Because they donāt read. āWhy are people so vulnerable to propaganda?ā āWhy is everyone a conspiracy theorist?ā Because they donāt read. Because they donāt read.

Starting to look at 2026 releases and it looks like april/may will be a great time for fantasy /scifi readers to ignore all social invitations unless they involve a group of people eating snacks whilst reading. New James S.A Corey! Very excited about the followup to The Mercy of Gods.

Watching this while I eat dill pickles and asking myself if the wheel of time says never to trust a skinny innkeeper, would it also say always trust a ripped chef? Yes. Yes, it would.

The fantasy and fashion posts are so bittersweet. So many details Iāve missed. Like the fact that the white cloaks have a broken snake interwoven with their sun emblem. (If thatās in the books I donāt remember bc I skimmed a lot in those povs) SUCH AMAZING VISUAL STORYTELLING

If you see your favourite indies, especially those who are wide or avoid Amazon, raise their prices... We all just had two emails in less than 24h: - Smashwords is cutting down its royalty rates, especially at lower price points - Ingramspark is raising most of its printing costs again

Ellis Nelson artwork in my flowerbed. One of many I have. It shows up better now that the leaves are down and the snow creates background. Nelson became world-famous. But I remember sitting on his front porch listening to him tell spooky stories while he ate canned stew right from the pot.

All great stories share one special ingredient. Epic Fantasy? Steamy Romance? Hard SciFi? Look carefully and you'll find it: someone getting hit with a briefcase full of bees.

I donāt understand this thing in new fantasy books in which places have names (usually borrowed from welsh, gaelic etc) that mimic euro-style high fantasy but then the character have modern names like McCoy or Armstrong as given names. Somebody please explain.

This is good. Check it out. I need to read the Chronicles of Prydain again to think about them as an adult, but I have a vague recollection of being extremely frustrated with Taranās journey and really disliking Annlaw. Maybe I was bumping up against it for similar reasons.

Iāve invented a character called THE CANDYSITTER for purposes of doling out candy to trick or treaters and have discovered that I can keep my eyes wide without blinking for at least 3 minutes possibly more. It helps to use a creepy voice.

I'm listening to Nona Hendryx's 1983 album Nona (a Bill Laswell joint). And wow... the who's who of session musicians is wild. Bernie Worrell! Laurie Anderson! Nancy Wilson from Heart! Freaking Jamaaladeen Tacuma! Sly Dunbar! No wonder it slaps.
