Duolingo (currently using it to learn 中文) is a nice case study in gamification. It's also a cautionary tale against over-reliance on A/B testing. Giving you features that are research based, metrics-driven, experimentally PROVEN, but only suitable for perfect plastic people. 1/2

Speaking of programming, I finished all 20 puzzles in i18n-puzzles.com -- a collection of puzzles focused around localization. Learned a bunch of neat tricks -- some of which I hope not to have to deal with (like puzzle 19). Thanks to @mpvaniersel.bsky.social for putting them all together!
