Pretty special sunset to finish off the first day of the New Year in #Suffolk

Anybody able to identify this unusual visitor to our farm? Buzzard sized, but white markings are something we've not seen before. Likes perching on our overhead wires and poles, and flies pretty low (not quite in the league of a Marsh Harrier, but lower than we're used to seeing Buzzards and Kites).

Anybody able to help identify this insect? Perhaps a type of sawfly? Approx 2cm long, red legs, black & white on abdomen (with a hint of dark blue in the sunlight). Spotted on silver birch foliage. @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social @suffolk-nats1929.bsky.social

First grey seal pup of the season born on Suffolk coast

Thought we'd start off our #Bluesky journey with a view across one of our paddocks, taken a few summer's ago. We love strolling through here. There's a huge variety of grasses, flowers, butterflies and other insects to admire. And then there's the skylarks singing and birds of prey hovering. Bliss!
