I think I average 0.2 books a year atm. But I also battle exhaustion, depression and laziness. So I don't have a particularly strong or consistent work ethic.

I've said this countless times, and I'm saying it again. STOP correcting people's spelling/grammar on social media. 1.) it's social media, not a gorram formal report. 2.) you don't know the circumstances of the person you're being an a-hole to. 3.) you're being an a-hole.

I enjoy a well-thought-out, rule-based magic system in fiction as much as anyone, BUT I also think that we should give more props to what Terry Pratchett did in the Discworld books, where it was less about rules and more about vibes and, more importantly, what fit a given story the best. 🧵

1st of the month = shameless self promotion time. I know everything sucks now. There is something disturbing about watching the world descend into a new dark age, the possibly all out war, AND the collapse of the US, as I beg you all to buy my books. But that's exactly what I'm doing.

The slow trudge to writing the final book is bearing fruit ... current at 18k words. I'm still unsure about how to go about a lot of it. There might be some rewriting down the track. But figured if I write the main stuff I can work in all the secondary stuff afterwards.

Depends where. The world the first book is set on. I'd love to visit. But at that point of the story I would probably not. It's an amazing world, filled with pretty damn awesome people and culture. But it's also a low tech world, so mortality rates due to sickness and injury are fairly high.

#SciFiSeptember day 27: attitude toward robots. Over all it's the same attitude towards anything that humans have. dumb machines are treated like tools, so it's just there. Like a microwave, or vacuum cleaner. There is no feeling towards them like any common object in everyday life.

Hears someone calling out randomly from a nearby house. Hears them again. ...Pause... Another loud sounds. Me to my sister "I think the footy grand final is on."

Most what we call "scifi" I don't. I call is science fantasy. The defining difference is possability. If it can fall within reality and there isn't some McGuffin involved I'd call that science. If it is unexplained, or a science term used as a handwavy excuse then it is fantasy.
