This is what traffic looked like on Archer at 5:44pm last night—similar to what it’s been the past four weeks. Nobody likes congestion, but maybe we should wait until construction wraps up so we can judge this project based on the results.

Looking to take a break this weekend? Check out Rieles y Raíces at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. This exhibit tells the under-appreciated story of Mexican and Mexican-American railroad workers in Chicago and the Midwest.

Our neighbor Sandra has been thinking about how the Archer redesign will impact young people in Brighton Park: "I just want to make sure our highschoolers and older teenagers have a protected lane," she said. "This will make it safer for everyone."

Shout out to our neighbor Gil (aka pookie) for counseling patience while construction wraps up on Archer & Kedzie 🙏 Our hope is that this project will do what it’s intended to do: reduce crashes, make Archer more walkable, and make it easier and safer for everybody to get around.

Construction on Archer is frustrating, but we’re optimistic this project will lead to safer streets for ALL southwest siders. Our hope is that the new Archer will accommodate everybody: people walking, biking, waiting for the bus, and driving. Archer is for everybody.
