Anyway the timing of CSM wrapping up right as I'm starting to really get into Kingdom is great. Nice to only have to keep track of one ongoing manga. Though with CSM I kinda just let the chapters pile up and then binge read a bunch of them, whereas with Kingdom I want to stay on top of the volumes.

My contribution to the CSM ending discourse is this. The longtime "curse" of CSM has been people's tendency to ignore one specific fact: that even though CSM is Fujimoto's most mainstream and accessible manga, it is still, at its very deepest core, a Fujimoto manga.

Everytime I look at my Hirasawa rankings and wonder if I'm overrating Beacon by giving it a 9/10, I give it another quick listen-through and am reminded just how unique and varied it is. Very much one of his stranger albums, especially for so late in his career.

Having a lot of trouble trying to get through Shelly Jackson's "The Lottery and Other Stories." I don't jive with her prose, but at the same time, she's able to craft these scenarios that are just so harrowing. So while I recognize her work as good, it's also painful to read in more than one way.

I didn't quite get Gipnoza's pacing at first—why are the all the low-energy songs situated in the middle like that? Now I think it's on purpose. The first three songs knock you on your ass, the next three pick you back up, only for the last four to beat you senseless.
