A correction on this. The win predictor doesn't go into overtime so I misread the Houston chart. The 78% is before Smith's missed FG. The point I would make is that even AFTER that moment, OSU was in great position to win in OT but left the field with no points. Couldn't execute.

Yes, special teams put OSU in tighter situations than it should have been. But the Beavers were still in position to win all three. That they won NONE of them speaks to play calling, discipline and execution. That's why it's so distasteful to just fire the special teams coach and call it a day.

ESPN's win predictor isn't a perfect tool by any means, but to my point about this not just being special teams: It gave OSU a 62.5% chance of winning at App State, 72.6% vs. Fresno State and 78.1% vs. Houston — all in final 2 minutes or OT. All after surviving that day's special teams blunder(s).

I moved back to Portland in 2022. I acknowledge the city's struggles and shortcomings. But it has rebounded in a big way and I'm proud to raise my kids there. I strenuously disagree with this characterization of my home.

This was a gotta-have-it moment for the Beavers if they were going to move forward and survive the season without major changes. Now? Don't see how moves aren't forthcoming. Either with Bray or, more likely, members of his staff.

Awful. Just brutal. A program-defining collapse by the Beavers against Houston. OSU led 24-10 with six minutes to go. They wind up losing 27-24 against a team that managed just five yards in the third quarter.
