The longest State of the Union in history and no mention of gun violence—the number one killer of kids and teens in America. That silence is unacceptable. We deserve a president who prioritizes the safety of our kids and communities.

FACT: Trump has defunded law enforcement and passed laws making crimes harder to solve and their jobs even more dangerous. He can say he cares about public safety all he wants, but it’s his actions that matter.

Gun violence of all kinds — whether it targets our servicemembers or our schoolchildren — is unacceptable. That’s why we must do everything in our power to keep guns out of dangerous hands and protect every community.

Trump can say he rejects political violence but Americans know the truth. We’ve seen him fan the flames of political violence with dangerous rhetoric all while refusing to take any meaningful action to prevent future shootings from happening.

If Trump really cared about strengthening the US economy, he’d do literally anything to tackle gun violence, which costs the American economy more than $550 billion every year.

Trump is falsely taking credit for lowering murder rates. Crime trends were already declining since the year Trump left office the first time, after he oversaw a 37% spike in gun homicides. He’s doing nothing but making America less safe.

🚨🚨🚨 Kash Patel’s personal use of a government plane delayed the FBI’s response to the shooting at Brown University, keeping FBI agents from getting to the campus to stop the violence. His recklessness and misplaced priorities made an already horrific day that much worse.

23-year-old Genesis Jones was shot and killed this weekend in Virginia while celebrating her brother’s birthday. At least 50 shots were fired after a nearby fight broke out. One other person was killed and seven others were injured.

The data is clear: Black women and girls face serious and rising gun violence, yet their experiences are still too often overlooked in research, policy, and media coverage. What we fail to center, we fail to solve.

Alex Pretti and Philando Castile were both lawful gun owners killed by law enforcement. But many of the 2A groups who are outraged on Alex’s behalf said nothing when Philando was murdered in 2016. They can’t pick and choose who deserves rights.

With a bullet lodged in his leg, Brown University freshman Spencer Yang returned to campus last week after he was wounded in the shooting that killed two of his classmates. When asked his biggest fear in returning, Spencer said, “shooting number two.”
